Loretta Lizzio – Market Day
Van ‘Down Under’ naar Leeuwarden! Kunstenaar Loretta Lizzio schilderde deze indrukwekkende mural op de gevel van Hotel Post-Plaza. Het is een echt Loretta-werk, gekenmerkt door een vrouwelijk perspectief en esthetiek. De mural bevat verschillende elementen uit het verleden en heden van de omgeving. In het echt nog mooier – dus kom zeker langs!
Loretta: “De mural, volledig geschilderd met penselen, toont een jonge vrouw in traditionele Friese kledij. Er wordt verwezen naar de historische markten die ooit werden gehouden in de straat waar de mural te vinden is. De vrouw wordt omlijst door boogvormige bomen die de bomen langs de straat weerspiegelen en die gevormd zijn naar de deur- en raamvormen van het voormalige postkantoor. Het werk verbindt verleden en heden, eert het lokale erfgoed en past naadloos in de architectuur van de stad.”

Loretta: “The mural ‘Market Day’, painted entirely with brushwork, depicts a young woman in traditional Frisian dress, set against the backdrop of the historic markets once held in the very street where it now lives. Framed by arching trees that reflect those lining the street and shaped to mirror the door and window forms of the former post office, now the Post-Plaza Hotel & Grand Café. The work connects past and present, honoring local heritage while blending seamlessly into the city’s architectural landscape.”
