Deze mural is gemaakt door de Duitse kunstenaar Flying Fortress, op uitnodiging van en in samenwerking met street artist Roy Schreuder voor Culturele Hoofdstad Leeuwarden, 2018. Flying Fortress: “Ik zit dit jaar (2018) al 30 jaar in de graffiti-business. Alle walls die ik dit jaar heb geschilderd, vertellen mijn graffiti-verhaal. In deze mural heb ik de “Flying Fortress” (vliegtuig) tot leven gebracht. Mijn iconische figuur, de Teddy Trooper, is de piloot. De militaire elementen die ik vaak gebruik zijn gecombineerd met vriendelijke kleuren om deze te bevrijden van hun negatieve vibes. Er zijn geen wapens in mijn werken, alleen de spuitbus is mijn wapen en gereedschap.”
EN: This mural was created by the German artist Flying Fortress, at the invitation of and in collaboration with street artist Roy Schreuder Flying Fortress: “I am in the graffiti business since 30 years this year (2018). So all the murals that I painted this year are telling my graffiti story. In this mural I brought a giant airplane (the „Flying Fortress“) to life. My iconic figure, the Teddy Trooper, is the pilot. The military aesthetic that I use is present, in combination with friendly colors to free the military elements from its negative vibes. There are no weapons in my artworks; only the spray can is my weapon and tool.”
