Deze imposante mural is gemaakt door Nederlandse kunstenaar Lars Ickenroth. De toepasselijke titel ‘evening in Atlantis’ is gebaseerd op een muziekstuk van pianist Esbjorn Svenson, welke volgens Lars doet denken aan het gevoel onder water te zijn in de zomer, omhoog kijkend door de golven. Hij probeerde deze sensatie in deze muurschildering te verbeelden. Het idee van deze bijzondere leeuw komt van het wapen van Lelystad waarin twee ‘zeeleeuwen’ zijn verwerkt. De muurschildering is te vinden aan de zijkant van het Apollo Hotel in Lelystad.
This imposing mural is by artist Lars Ickenroth from Heerlen, the Netherlands. The fitting titel ‘evening in Atlantis’ is based on a great piece of music by pianist Esbjorn Svenson and resonates with a feeling of being underwater in the summer, looking up through the waves. Lars tried to portray this sensation in this awesome work, as well as a bit of personal history mixed with the history of Lelystad. The idea of this special lion comes from the coat of arms of Lelystad in which two ‘sea lions’ are incorporated.
