ENG: French graphic designer turned muralist Williann transformed this wall in Lelystad into an intricate artwork! Their work often features strong female characters with Dutch Delft Blue elements.
Williann: “I didn’t want to represent a world under the sea, because the story of Lelystad takes place ABOVE the sea. So here is my main character with a sailor suit, a giant buoy and small references to the Netherlands (clogs, braids, tulip tattoo). I like to represent my characters with scratches and scars, broken like porcelain. I also made a reference to the lion/fish from the coat of arms of Lelystad. It was a great opportunity to paint a wall in the Netherlands with this subject.”

NED: Franse grafisch ontwerper en muralist Williann transformeerde deze muur in Lelystad tot een gedetailleerd kunstwerk! In het werk van de kunstenaar zijn vaak sterke vrouwelijke personages te zien met Delfts blauwe en porseleinen elementen.
Williann: “Ik wilde geen wereld onder de zee vertegenwoordigen, omdat het verhaal van Lelystad zich BOVEN de zee afspeelt. Dus hier is mijn hoofdpersoon met een matrozenpakje, een gigantische boei en kleine verwijzingen naar Nederland. Ik representeer mijn personages graag met krassen en littekens of gebroken als porselein. Ook heb ik verwezen naar de leeuw/vis uit het wapen van Lelystad. Ik vond het heel mooi om een muur te schilderen in Nederland met dit onderwerp.”
